All-Russian folk festival “The Village - the Soul of Russia” is aimed at preserving and support of traditional folk culture, attraction of attention of society, authorities and business to issues of revival of spiritual and moral, cultural heritage of our ancestors, increase of quality life level in countryside, expansion of the best work experience of the Vologda region and other regions of Russia in preservation and promotion of traditional folk culture.
“Okhlupen” (a ridge beam, a beam with an apron in wooden architecture, which accomplishes the roof), the symbol of traditional folk culture, is the symbol of the Festival. It is handed over to the Head of the municipality, which wins the competition for holding the Festival next year.
In 2019 IV Interregional folk festival “The Village - the Soul of Russia” took place on 18-20 August in Vologda municipality (Vologda municipality, settlement Maysky, village Kubenskoye, settlement Sosnovka, museum “Semenkovo”). Folk forum gathered over 50 groups from 13 regions of Russia and Belarus, received more than 700 participants. The Vologda region was represented by folk groups of 15 municipalities. In the framework of the Russia’s Year of Theatre a competition of children’s theatres took place.
In 2022 All-Russian folk festival “The Village - the Soul of Russia” is to be carried out in Kadui municipality from the 30th of June to the 2nd of July, 2022.
It is expected that the events of the Festival will take place in settlements Kadui and Zeleny Bereg (Filippo-Irapsky monastery). Events of different formats are planned in the framework of the festival, including traditional “bratchina” (closing festive event at common table) and a concert of folk music in the open air.
