The festival "Placers of Ugra" dates back to 1993. It was created with the aim of preserving and popularizing the folklore of the indigenous small-numbered peoples of the North living in the territory of the Nizhnevartovsk district and the Autonomous Okrug, to ensure cultural diversity, to realize the right of indigenous small-numbered peoples to preserve and develop their national and cultural identity, to protect, restore and preserve their ancestral historical and cultural habitat and traditional way of life, development of living folklore traditions of the northern peoples.

The events of the festival include creative performances, training workshops that help to reveal the secrets of the art of folk singing, introduce various techniques and features of the performance of musical, song and dance folklore, help to find harmonious and ethical possibilities for using stylization of folklore motifs, a gala concert based on the results of competitive screenings.
