The festival «Illusions of the Old Town» is an annual event during which the unique quarter of historical buildings in Petrozavodsk transforms into a real historical theater. Its stage showcases authentic events from the life of the provincial city in the late 19th — early 20th centuries. Guests of the festival can enjoy «premieres» of films in the «Electrotheatre Renaissance» accompanied by a pianist, capture themselves in a vintage look in the «own studio of Mr. Johansson», see a performance of the folk Petrushka theater, whirl in a waltz to the sounds of a brass band, visit a fashionable dressmaking workshop, a flower shop, a craft fair, take part in firefighting as part of the Volunteer Fire Brigade, play gorodki and much more. A signature feature of the festival is the abundance of costumed characters.
