Maslenitsa is a traditional folk festival held in the last week before Lent, symbolizing the farewell to winter and the meeting of the long-awaited spring. The main elements of the holiday:
-cooking pancakes - the main symbol of Maslenitsa, personifying the sun and fertility. Pancakes are baked with various fillings: caviar, cottage cheese, honey, jam or sour cream;
-stilts and swings;
-mummers - participants of the holiday wear bright and colorful costumes, masks and hats;
-competitions and games: tug of war, throwing snowballs, bag fights and others
