The Baltic Fleet Song and Dance Ensemble is one of the oldest military artistic groups in Russia. Its creative biography began in 1939. During the Great Patriotic War, the ensemble's artists participated in the heroic defense of the Moonsund Islands of Ezel and Dago, and together with the fleet's ships broke through from Tallinn to Leningrad. Throughout all 900 days of the Leningrad blockade, the creative team remained in the city, performing for its residents and at the front line. Many artists - almost a third of the creative team - died bravely.
Among the first numerous post-war performances, the concerts given by the ensemble in the autumn of 1945 in occupied Germany are notable. Over the years of its existence, the group has traveled all over Russia with concerts and visited countries: Germany, Poland, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, England, Belgium, Denmark, Holland, France, Italy, Norway, Syria, Cuba, Sweden, Finland, Luxembourg.
The current generation of artists continues the glorious traditions of their predecessors.
The concert dedicated to the Year of the Defender of the Fatherland features songs about the army and navy in original arrangements performed by soloists: Honored Artist of Russia Igor Poberezhsky (baritone), Vladimir Gudochnikov (baritone), Dmitry Lyubavin (tenor), Mikhail Lishaev (tenor).
The ensemble's dance group under the direction of Honored Artist of Russia Konstantin Kirillov will demonstrate a high level of choreographic art in performing characteristic dances: naval and folk dances.
The ensemble is headed by a graduate of the Moscow Conservatory named after P.I. Tchaikovsky, member of the Union of Composers of Russia, laureate of the First International Composers Competition named after V. Ovchinnikov 2025, conductor, Honored Artist of Russia Boris Gastev.
