The festival has been held since 2000, declared by UNESCO as the Year of Bach. It was exactly 250 years since the composer's death. Therefore, the festival was timed to coincide with the day of the composer's memory - July 28.
The idea of holding the festival annually belongs to one of the best experts and promoters of Bach's work in our country, the master of domestic organ performing art, Harry Grodberg. The idea is successfully implemented by the Kaliningrad Regional Philharmonic. And it is helped in this by the Government of the Kaliningrad Region and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the region.
Despite the fact that the organ occupies a large place in the posters of "Bakhosluzhenie", its program is not limited to organ music alone. After all, the mighty compositional genius of Bach left a bright mark in instrumental, orchestral, and vocal music. This is reflected in the extensive genre palette of the festival. Its program includes not only the works of J.S. Bach himself, but also the works of his contemporaries, works by composers of other eras and stylistic directions. Moreover, along with music, the festival program even includes a stage embodiment of the BACH theme. Thus, at "Bakhosluzhenie-2006", Kaliningrad residents got acquainted with the play "Meeting", where the outstanding Lithuanian actors D. Banionis and R. Adomaitis played the roles of Bach and Handel. The festival of 2007 was opened by the play of the Kaliningrad Literary Theater "J.S. Bach. Fate. Transcription into Music".
All this proves a simple truth: Bach is a constant value, in demand at all times. His personality attracts, his music does not become outdated and continues to strike fire from human hearts for the third century already. Especially when this music is performed by talented artists.
