On April 11, the Museum of the World Ocean invites residents and guests of the city to celebrate the folk holiday "Herring Day." The festivities will traditionally take place on the open territory of the museum embankment - from the Naval Center to the monument to the "Pioneers of Oceanic Fishing," next to which the medium fishing trawler SRT-129 is moored. It is no coincidence that this hardworking sea vessel stands first in the line of museum ships. Medium fishing trawlers are the main heroes in the history of the formation of the fishing industry in the Amber Region. Herring expeditions to the North Sea and the North Atlantic marked the beginning of Kaliningrad fishermen's exploration of new fishing areas beyond the Baltic Sea. The SRT-129 exhibition carefully preserves the history of Russia's fishing fleet.

This year, the city's main educational and gastronomic holiday is celebrated for the 20th time. The opening of the folk holiday is preceded by a bright theatrical performance "Fishing Season" - a story about how the fishing industry originated in the Kaliningrad region.

The opening of "Herring Day" will be marked by a concert. A souvenir fair will unfold on the museum's objects and its territory, creative master classes and quests, contests and thematic quizzes, popular science lectures about herring and fishing from oceanologists and fishermen will be held.

On the museum ships, guests will enjoy exclusive tours and meetings with captains.

And, of course, the gastronomic program of the holiday with a fish market, where dishes from Kaliningrad restaurateurs according to original recipes will be presented, deserves special attention!
