The international festival "Russian Music on the Baltic" has been held since 2006. The distinctive feature of the festival is the popularization of the music of domestic composers both in Russia and abroad.
Over the history of the festival, over 100 diverse cultural events have been held, involving about 5,000 musicians and artists of the highest level.
In different years, such prominent figures of Russian culture as poet Evgeny Yevtushenko, famous ballet soloist and choreographer People's Artist of the Russian Federation Andris Liepa, legend of the world opera stage People's Artist of the USSR Galina Vishnevskaya, People's Artist of the USSR Virgilius Noreika, outstanding actor People's Artist of the USSR Vasily Lanovoy, People's Artist of the Russian Federation Sergey Roldugin (cello) took part in the festival "Russian Music on the Baltic".
For many years, the festival "Russian Music on the Baltic" has been a kind of spiritual and musical mission, carrying out the "cultural expansion" of the masterpieces of domestic music into the countries bordering Russia, promoting the best achievements of domestic art both in the form of expanding listeners' acquaintance with the works of Russian composers and in the form of exchange of performing experience (musicians and singers from the participating countries present their interpretations of the works of Russian composers, including them in their concert repertoire and thus inscribing new Russian pages into the context of world culture).
